  7.     Well -- it has taken us several
  8. swats to finally make contact. Now the
  9. ball is flying out of the stadium!
  10.  
  11.     LS Lib V7.3 can now search the
  12. complete LOADSTAR data base from just
  13. one program. It works much like its
  14. predecessors, but considerably faster
  15. than V6 and before.
  16.  
  17.     When you boot LS Lib V7.3, the
  18. main menu offers:
  19.  
  20.  1. Search by Program
  21.  2. Search by Author
  22.  3. Search by Category
  23.  
  24.  These are identical to previous
  25. versions. Click, cursor/return, or
  26. press the number key to select. Type
  27. in a string and hit <RETURN>. The
  28. search is [not] case sensitive and
  29. will match letters anywhere in the
  30. data base strings.

  32.  4. Search by Issue/All
  33.  
  34.  We had to combine these two
  35. functions. To go through the data
  36. base, entry by entry, issue by issue,
  37. (All), type in <0> and press <RETURN>.
  38.  
  39.     By the way, if you type one digit
  40. (e.g., 3), each issue with that digit
  41. in its number will display each item.
  42. Of course, you can press <Q> to quit
  43. any search when you have seen enough.

  45.  5. Set Search Range
  46.  
  47.  Here is where you can move between
  48. data files and search the entire
  49. library. Each file is numbers with its
  50. first and last issue -- such as
  51.  
  52.             [LSL.001-031].
  53.  
  54.  We pulled all the data out of the
  55. previous versions and converted
  56. everything to PETASCII. Now we will be
  57. able to re-edit the files and fix some
  58. old omissions, unify syntax, and
  59. generally polish up the whole system.

  61.  6. Destination SCREEN
  62.  
  63.  Flip between SCREEN, DEVICE 4, and
  64. DEVICE 5 for your output.
  65.  
  66.     One way to organize a list of
  67. programs to print out is to go through
  68. and Mark all desired entries. Then
  69. switch the Destination to your
  70. printer, and Search by Category for
  71. "Marked Files". Your selected list
  72. will be sent to the printer.

  74.     Thanks to a timely letter from
  75. Stephen Beigle, we were able to
  76. improve the print-out. It is decidedly
  77. 80-column, 66 line, tractor feed.

  79.  7. Exit and Disk

  81.  Here is your way out -- to LOADSTAR
  82. or Basic. LOAD FILE DATA is exactly
  83. the same as 5 above. You can also
  84. return to the Library if you are not
  85. ready to quit.

  87.     Every two or three months, we will
  88. publish an update of the current LSL.*
  89. file. When the file reaches capacity,
  90. you will get a new update of LS Lib
  91. V7.* as well, which will automatically
  92. load the latest data file on boot.

  97. [little] criticism!
